Philippians 4

Think of Excellence

1Therefore, my beloved brethren
Lit and longed for
whom I blong to see, my joy and crown, in this way cstand firm in the Lord, my beloved.

2I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to
Or be of the same mind
,
elive in harmony in the Lord.
3Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my ffellow workers, whose gnames are in the book of life.

4 hRejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. iThe Lord is
Or at hand
near.
6 kBe anxious for nothing, but in everything by lprayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And mthe peace of God, which surpasses all
Lit mind
comprehension, will oguard your hearts and your pminds in qChrist Jesus.

8Finally, brethren, rwhatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is
Or lovable and gracious
lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise,
Lit ponder these things
dwell on these things.
9The things you have learned and received and heard and seen uin me, practice these things, and vthe God of peace will be with you.

God’s Provisions

10But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last wyou have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity. 11Not that I speak
Lit according to
from want, for I have learned to be
Or self-sufficient
,
zcontent in whatever circumstances I am.
12I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going aahungry, both of having abundance and absuffering need. 13I can do all things
Lit in
through Him who adstrengthens me.
14Nevertheless, you have done well to aeshare with me in my affliction.

15You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the
Lit beginning of
,
agfirst preaching of the gospel, after I left ahMacedonia, no church aishared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone;
16for even in ajThessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. 17 akNot that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the
Lit fruit
profit which increases to your account.
18But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am
Lit made full
amply supplied, having received from anEpaphroditus
Lit the things from you
what you have sent,
Lit an odor of fragrance
,
aqa fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
19And army God will supply
Or every need of yours
all your needs according to His atriches in glory in Christ Jesus.
20Now to auour God and Father av be the glory
Lit to the ages of the ages
forever and ever. Amen.

21Greet every
Or holy one
saint in Christ Jesus. ayThe brethren who are with me greet you.
22 azAll the
V 21, note 1
,
bbsaints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.

23 bcThe grace of the Lord Jesus Christ bdbe with your spirit.
